What to look for
David's broken sentence — 'Unless I had believed I would see the goodness of YHVH in the land of the living…' — with dots both above and below lulei.
What it is
The only word in Scripture dotted above and below the letters — a double frame around a single word.
Why it matters
The sentence never finishes. 'Unless I had believed… ' — what then? David cannot say it, and the scribes dotted the unspeakable from both sides.
How it has been understood
The Talmud hears David trembling: he believed, yet feared his own sins might bar him from the promise — faith and fear meeting in one bracketed word. The very next verse steadies him and every reader since: 'Wait for YHVH; be strong, and let your heart take courage.'
