The Italian team cleared Herod's theater on the shore south of the city and found the Pilate stone reused in its stairs. The theater was restored and is used for concerts today.

A Herodian theater seating about 4,000, facing the Mediterranean, with a semicircular orchestra and a stage building rebuilt several times in the Roman period.
Why it matters for the Bible
Acts 12:21–23 says Agrippa I, dressed in royal robes, sat on his throne, was hailed as a god, and was struck down. Josephus (Antiquities 19.343–350) tells the same story in more detail: it happened at Caesarea, in the theater, at games for the emperor, and Agrippa's silver robe shone in the morning sun. The excavated theater is the very building both writers had in mind, and the two accounts agree on place, cause, and outcome.
