Advocate & Mediator
מֵלִיץ / סַנֵּגוֹר
The Advocate with the Father and the one Mediator between God and men — Job's ancient hope for an umpire, answered.
Job begged for someone able to lay a hand on both God and man; the NT's answer is a Mediator who IS both. Jewish tradition also knows heavenly advocates (the melitz of Job 33:23); the NT names one and says the case is won.
