El Shaddai — God Almighty
אֵל שַׁדַּי
God Almighty, the All-Sufficient — the covenant name of the patriarchs ('I appeared to Abraham as El Shaddai,' Exod 6:3).
Jewish tradition connects Shaddai to 'the One who said dai — enough' — the God who sets bounds for creation, whose initial letter shin marks every mezuzah. Christian thought receives it through the LXX as Pantokrator, the Almighty of Revelation.
