The Word — Logos / Davar

הַדָּבָר

HaDavar · Logos — pronounced ha-dah-VAHR; LOH-goss · appears ~7 (as the personal title) times · Strong's G3056

The Word who was in the beginning with God, was God, and became flesh.

Jewish tradition already spoke of God's Memra (Word) acting in the world; John 1 opens with Genesis 1's own first words and identifies the creating Word as a Person who pitched His tent among us — the tabernacle verb chosen deliberately. Both traditions agree God creates by speaking; they part, and meet, over whether the Speech has a face.
