Pater / Abba — Father

אַבָּא / אָבִינוּ

Pater · Abba — pronounced pah-TAIR; AH-bah · appears ~245 (Father, of God, NT) times · Strong's G3962, G5

Father — Yeshua's characteristic address to God, with the intimate Aramaic Abba preserved untranslated three times.

Isaiah already prayed Avinu; Yeshua made Father the default address and handed it to His followers. That the church kept the Aramaic Abba on its lips in Greek letters shows how precious the sound itself was — a family word crossing every language since.
