Shofet Kol HaAretz — Judge of All the Earth
שֹׁפֵט כָּל הָאָרֶץ
The Judge of all the earth — named by Abraham while arguing with God over Sodom.
Born inside a negotiation — Abraham appeals to God's own character against the verdict, and God welcomes the argument. Both traditions learn from this that divine justice invites intercession rather than silencing it.
First occurrence
Gen 18:25 — 'Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?'
Key passages
Ps 94:2 — 'Rise up, Judge of the earth'
Ps 96:13 — 'He comes to judge the earth… with righteousness'
In the Greek Scriptures
ὁ κρίνων πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν
