Son of God

בֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים

Ben HaElohim · Huios tou Theou — pronounced ben ha-el-oh-HEEM · appears ~45 (the full title, NT) times · Strong's G5207, G2316

The Son of God — sonship as shared nature, mission, and love.

Israel is called God's son (Exod 4:22), the Davidic king is called God's son (Ps 2) — and the NT claims the title's fullest depth for Yeshua. Proverbs 30:4's ancient riddle — 'what is His Son's name?' — hangs over the whole discussion in both traditions.

First occurrence

Ps 2:7 — 'You are My Son; today I have begotten You'

Prov 30:4 — 'What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you know?'
