The number 144 in the Bible — The Sealed People (12 × 12)

מֵאָה אַרְבָּעִים וְאַרְבַּע

me'ah arba'im v'arba · Greek: ἑκατὸν τεσσαράκοντα τέσσαρες — hekaton tessarakonta tessares

Twelve twelves. The 144,000 of Revelation are explicitly structured as 12,000 from each of twelve tribes — whatever one's view of their identity, the number is transparently the people-of-God number squared and magnified by a thousand. The New Jerusalem's wall measures 144 cubits.
