Recipe: a complete Hebrew word study in 15 minutes
This recipe puts several tools together in a simple order. By the end you will have a Word Study Sheet you can keep, teach from or print. We will use chesed (lovingkindness) as the example, but any word works.

Step 1: Find the word
Switch to the King James + Strong's. Search lovingkindness, open a verse (Psalm 36:7 is a good one), and tap the Strong's number after the word: H2617, chesed.
Step 2: Read the lexicon, and start a sheet
Read Strong's and Brown–Driver–Briggs. Note the range of meanings. Tap 📋 to start a Word Study Sheet.
Step 3: See every use
Tap View all › next to the occurrence count. Skim the verses and notice who shows chesed, to whom, and what it is paired with.
Step 4: Find its companions
Tap Words that pair →. Chesed keeps company with emet (truth) again and again. Add what you find to the sheet.
Step 5: Climb the family tree
Tap Family tree → to see the root and its related words, such as chasid, a faithful or godly one.
Step 6: Look at the letters
Tap Study the letters → to read the pictographs, and note the gematria at the top of the lexicon.
Step 7: Finish and print
Open Tools ▾ → Word Study Sheets, open your sheet, write a short summary in your own words, and use Print….
